Fire in Wrotham Road, Meopham, sees firefighters tell residents to keep doors and windows shut

Residents were warned to keep doors and windows shut as firefighters tackled a blaze in two outbuildings.

The warning came after a fire in Wrotham Road, Meopham which saw crews at the scene for more than four hours.

Three fire engines were sent after the alarm was raised at 11.37am.

No casualties have been reported but fire crews wore breathing apparatus and used hose reel jets to fight the flames.

They also used a main jet and water from a hydrant to bring the fire under control, which had also spread to undergrowth.

A spokesman earlier warned residents to close their windows and doors due to the build up of smoke caused by the fire.

Firefighting activities stopped at 3.45pm and the fire was extinguished successfully.

Residents have now been advised they can reopen doors and windows.
