Still no date for end of roadworks

Roadworks will continue to burden businesses, with no date of completion in sight.

There has been a delay to maintenance of the pedestrian crossing, which includes re-aligning block paving, in West Street, Gravesend, and Kent County Council is unable to confirm when it will be finished.

Work began on August 11 and was due to be finished by Friday, but this week, the road was still cordoned off by metal railings, diverting pedestrians further along pathways.

The owners of the Middle Ei8ht pub, The Three Daws inn and Riva restaurant and bar complained the disruption was driving away customers as well as creating noise pollution and dirt.

KCC was unable to comment at time of going to press, but it is believed the delay is partly due to Saturday’s appalling weather.

The laying of flagstones used in the crossing and the pointing of the stones are being carried out by hand.
