A woman lured a man to her car on the pretext of buying an electronic tablet from him and then summoned two thugs to mug him, a court heard.

Jurate Gabrisiunne acted as the bait to steal the device from Germanas Markauskas outside his Gravesend home.

Now the 28-year-old Lithuanian cleaner has been jailed for three years and four months after being convicted of robbery.

Maidstone Crown Court heard the victim had advertised the tablet on the internet and Gabrisiunne agreed to buy it for £380.

She went to Peacock Street, Gravesend, on December 30 last year and Mr Markauskas came out of his home and got into her Mazda.

Crispian Cartwright, prosecuting, said after the victim showed her the tablet, she made a phone call.

Shortly afterwards two men appeared and tried to force Mr Markauskas out of the car.

"He put up some resistance but saw that one of the men had a metallic object in his hand," said Mr Cartwright. "Fear was instilled in him. He was dragged out of the car."

The three drove off with the tablet. The victim called 999 and gave a good description of Gabrisiunne. He gave her mobile phone number to officers.

When they rang the number, the woman who answered said she was in Tunbridge Wells and had not been to Gravesend that evening.

Gabrisiunne, of Romford, Essex, denied the offence, claiming that Mr Markauskas had made up the allegation, but she was convicted by a jury.

The court heard she had fled her country to escape domestic violence and got a job here. She had lost a daughter.

Judge Charles Byers said it was a well thought out robbery in which a knife or some other weapon was used.

"It must have been terrifying," he said. "The robbery could not have taken place if it hadn't been for her. She was the bait. She never named her accomplices."

The judge told Gabrisiunne: "You have been convicted of a serious crime – at night with some considerable planning. You lured a man from his address to your car.

"I accept you may not have known a weapon was going to be used. You have shown no remorse for what you have done.

"I accept you have come here with a difficult background. You found work and you were doing well."
