Higham: British Transport Police called to railway station twice

Concerns were raised for the welfare of a teenage girl and a woman within hours of one another at the same railway station.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) and Kent Police were called to Higham railway station at 9.30pm yesterday after concerns were raised about the girl.

This morning a Kent Police spokesman said: "Officers located the girl, who was safe and not injured, and took her back to her home address."

This morning BTP and the ambulance service were called to the station again, this time following reports of concern for the welfare of a woman.

An ambulance spokesman said crews attended shortly before 9am.

He added: "The woman was assessed before being taken to Darent Valley Hospital."

A BTP spokesman said they do not believe the two incidents are linked.

No disruption to services was reported.
