Two charged over Northfleet cash machine theft and Rochester burglary

Two suspected thieves have been charged following a burglary in Rochester and a cash machine theft in Northfleet.

The burglary was reported to have taken place at around 11pm on Wednesday November 27 at a business unit on George Summers Close, Medway City Estate.

Police were then called shortly after midnight to Northfleet Food & Wine in the High Street, opposite the Hive housing estate in Northfleet, following reports the off-licence had been targeted and a cash machine stolen at around 12.10am.

Following enquires, Joseph Hoadley, 24, formerly of Ebbsfleet Walk, Northfleet and Grant Searle, 28, formerly of Chambers Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex were arrested on Saturday 14 December and charged the next day with conspiracy to commit burglary.

Both were remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
