Ebbsfleet United priced out of a move for Peterborough United striker Junior Morias

Junior Morias is out of Ebbsfleet's price range - but they are trying to sign someone in the mould of the Peterborough striker.

Morias played with Fleet boss Daryl McMahon at Boreham Wood and the club did express interest in the 22-year-old.

But with Posh asking more than £100,000 for Morias, it's unlikely he'll be heading to Stonebridge Road.

McMahon said: "I know Junior well. He's a fantastic player but it's probably a bit too much for us.

"We're looking for a player, if we can find him, of that calibre at the right price.

"Junior's a terrific young player, only 22, and he will be a Football League player all day long.

"If we could have got him, he would have been a big one for us."

Fleet's players report back for pre-season training next week and McMahon hopes to add to his squad before they fly to Portugal for a training camp.

He said: "We've got a decent group but now we need to add some real quality as and when it becomes available.

"We're in the market for two positions at the minute and one of them's taking longer than most. Like everyone in the division, we're after a striker and they're difficult to get your hands on.

"We had three done that have gone somewhere else. It's a market where lots of players have gone to League clubs, people we've been speaking to for six months.

"We've found it difficult in the last year to get a striker in to go alongside what we've got.

"We've got to make sure now that we get the right one, the right age who can come in and settle into our group and kick on.

"Look at last season, the goalscoring table in our division. The Tranmere boys, Rowe at Fylde and Bonne at Orient are untouchable for us, then it's Kedwell and behind that, we've got Powell, Coulson and Whitely.

"We're right up there with those attacking players. We probably just need another powerful No.9 in the Keds mould but they're hard to get.

"The plus for us is that we've got Darren McQueen back so we're patient with what we're going to do."
