Ebbsfleet United boss Jamie Day wants to extend Sean Shields' loan spell.

The 22-year-old midfielder joined the Fleet on a month-long loan from Dagenham & Redbridge in December and that deal is due to expire this weekend.

Shields has played five times for Ebbsfleet so far - three starts and two substitute appearances - in a variety of positions and Day is keen to keep hold of him.

He said: "Sean has done well and he put in a good shift at left wing-back on Sunday.

"I really like him. He's direct, pacy and he's got a great attitude.

"He's done enough for me to want to extend his deal."

Ebbsfleet are at home to Forest Green Rovers in the FA Trophy second round on Saturday.
