Ebbsfleet United vice-chairman Peter Varney confirms there has been interest in 30-goal striker Matt Godden

Matt Godden is a man in demand after scoring 30 goals for Ebbsfleet last season.

The 24-year-old enjoyed the best campaign of his career but missed out on promotion after Fleet lost to Maidstone on penalties in the play-off final.

Ebbsfleet vice-chairman Peter Varney said the former Scunthorpe striker was one of several Fleet players attracting plenty of interest.

He said: "We’ll have some players who have had really good seasons, who will be wanted by other clubs and we’ve got to talk to them about whether they still want to play in National South.

"If you score 30 goals, you’re going to have people after you, aren’t you?

"You’re going to have to ask yourself whether he wants to play in National South and not only him, other players who have done well.

"It is difficult when they’ve had this major disappointment and they’ve got some decisions to take.

"Obviously we had a plan if we went up and we’ve now got to sit down and Daryl (McMahon) is going to have to meet every player individually and take it from there."
