Ebbsfleet United boss Daryl McMahon wants to sign a striker

Ebbsfleet United are in the market for a new centre-forward.

Last season's top scorer, Darren McQueen, is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury he picked up playing against Aldershot on September 12.

Danny Kedwell has led the line well in his absence, scoring nine goals, but manager Daryl McMahon admits his captain needs more support up front.

McMahon said: "I'd like to bring one more player in as we go along.

"We might need another striker.

"That's probably the only position I look at where we could add to give Keds a hand getting goals."

In the 11 weeks since McQueen's injury, Fleet have tried several different attacking options.

But Danny Mills, a summer signing from Whitehawk, has started just twice in the league as has player/coach Aaron McLean. Both players have scored one goal.

Antonio German played just 33 minutes for the club before he was offloaded to Hemel Hempstead while recent signing Febian Brandy has been struggling with a minor hamstring problem and has only featured in one game so far.

The best foil for Kedwell has been midfielder Luke Coulson, playing in an advanced 'No.10 role'.

Both players scored in Ebbsfleet's 3-0 win over Hartlepool on Saturday.
