Danny Haynes has signed for Ebbsfleet with a week to go until the new season.

The former Ipswich, Bristol City and Charlton forward had been training with Daryl McMahon's squad following his release from Cheltenham Town and he's now agreed terms.

Haynes started against Braintree on Saturday in the Fleet's final pre-season friendly.

He lined up wide on the right, with Adam Cunnington playing down the middle, and it was Cunnington who had the home side's closest attempt, rattling the crossbar on 18 minutes.

Braintree keeper Will Norris saved from Hayes and Matt Fish later in a first half which had its moments.

But the second period offered little, with chances drying up until Braintree stepped it up late on.

Joe Howe did well to clear a Dan Sparkes effort and Akinola fired a shot wide before trialist Wilson Carvalho scored what proved to be the winner, his shot kissing the inside of the post and beating Brandon Hall.
