Ebbsfleet striker Danny Kedwell urges squad to learn from FA Cup defeat to Merstham and focus on promotion to National League

Captain Danny Kedwell wants Ebbsfleet’s shock FA Cup exit to serve as a warning to their league form.

The Fleet crashed out at Ryman League Merstham last Saturday – ending a run of six successive wins.

Their mental toughness will be put to the test when they make the short trip to East Thurrock this Saturday.

“We’ve got to learn from these situations and I’m sure we will,” said Kedwell.

“We’ve had six games unbeaten, we’ve scored 20-odd goals and have been magnificent.

“We’re not going to let it affect us, we need to concentrate against East Thurrock and kick on in the league.

“It doesn’t matter who you are playing, we’ve got to be on it 24/7. Everything is a cup final for teams in our league. We can’t take our foot off the gas and it just goes to show you what can happen.

“We’ve got to make sure we’re on our game because we are the best team and we’ve got to make sure we show it.”
