Captain Paul Lorraine was hailed as a ‘warrior’ after Ebbsfleet beat a strong Charlton side 2-1 in a friendly on Sunday.

Boss Steve Brown praised his skipper, who’s been nursing a bad back during pre-season.

He said: “Paul’s a warrior which shows in his sheer determination to throw his body in the way of things and get tight to people and make challenges.

“He’s got this lower-back problem which the club are doing their best to sort out.

“He feels something after a game, as does Shane Huke, but that comes with being a centre-half.

“Lorro’s the sort of player who’d ache on a Monday, train Tuesday and play Wednesday.”
