Ebbsfleet's Myles Weston lets his football do the talking

Myles Weston says a new mentality has been key to his strong early-season form with Ebbsfleet.

The 30-year-old showed flashes of quality in his first year at Stonebridge Road but now he’s performing at a consistently high level.

Former Wycombe winger Weston looks fitter, faster and determined not to lose his place in the starting XI.

He said: “I don’t think the National League is much different to League 2 but maybe it took me a little while to adjust. Now my mentality’s a lot different.

“I’m just thinking I need to do the best I can for the team every time I get a chance to play, whether it’s starting or off the bench.

“Last season I did OK but my main thought this season is to be better. Any way I can do that, I will.

“I go into every game to work hard and then let my football do the talking.”

Weston has been replicating his club form on the international stage. He scored a hat-trick for Antigua & Barbuda earlier this month as they beat Bahamas 6-0 in the CONCACAF Nations League.

Weston said: “It was amazing and I was truly blessed to even get the opportunity. Playing at international level gives you a decent outlook on football.

“At club level, you’re used to training every day and playing against players you know but internationals are different. You play different teams with different tactics and a different way of thinking.

“When there’s two games (back to back), it’s difficult because I’ll be back (at Ebbsfleet) on a Thursday. But this time it was only one game so I got a whole week to adjust back to England. It’s not a problem at all.”
