Ebbsfleet United's Dave Winfield wants to add to the promotions he won with Aldershot Town and Wycombe Wanderers

New signing Dave Winfield is determined to add at least one more promotion to his CV at Ebbsfleet.

The 28-year-old defender turned down a new deal at York City to join the National League South club after eight years playing in the Football League.

Winfield helped Aldershot to the Conference title in 2008 and was part of the Wycombe side which went up to League 1 five years ago. He’s since tasted relegation with three different clubs but is ready to reverse that trend at Stonebridge Road.

Returning south represents a homecoming for Winfield, his wife and two children – but he insists settling down doesn’t mean slowing down.

Winfield said: "I want to win things. I’ve always wanted to win things throughout my career and that’s where I see myself going – to win championships and to add to the promotions on my CV.

"It’s time to get the family settled and I’m looking to continue to achieve things, as I’ve driven to throughout my career. It’s an exciting prospect.

"I went in and spoke to the manager and he explained the aspirations of the club. The structure of the club is there to go and achieve things and it was a huge appeal to me.

"I was very pleased with how everyone at the club came across with their aspirations and where they want to take the club.

"I can see them evolving. They’ve gone from being a very small club to now having plans to grow and achieve, eventually, League status.

"The manager, the chairman and everyone else at Ebbsfleet are all gearing towards the same goal. Everyone’s pulling in the same direction, to do as well as we can for the club and create Ebbsfleet United as a fully-fledged League club.

"The structure of the club is there and we, as players, need to make sure our application matches that structure and the ambition of the club."
