Defender Kenny Clark says his best form is still to come after scoring on 100th appearance for Ebbsfleet United

Kenny Clark believes the best is yet to come after reaching a century of games for Ebbsfleet.

The 28-year-old centre-back marked his 100th Fleet outing by scoring the first goal in last Saturday’s 2-0 win against Chelmsford.

He has become a cornerstone of the defence since joining from Dartford and feels he can only get better.

“It’s been the best three seasons of my career,” said Clark.

“Footballing wise, I feel like I’ve improved with my age and experience. I feel like I’m coming into the best part of my career.

“I work behind the scenes now at the club and I want to do well for the club.”

Clark, who also scored against Chelmsford in December 2014, netted against one of his former clubs again at the weekend and was also named man-of-the-match.

“It’s always nice to play against one of your old teams, you have that bit extra that you want to do well,” he said. “To score and to keep a clean sheet was the cherry on top.

“I live 20 minutes away from Chelmsford so I don’t think I’ll be going out there after scoring that one!

“I didn’t realise 100 games was coming round so quick and to play against Chelmsford to do it was nice.”

Clark’s main focus, though, is promotion.

“We were close last season and obviously failed at the final hurdle,” said Clark.

“We need to keep performing as we have done and make that gap to Maidenhead smaller.

“There’s a lot going on with the club, a lot of ambition. People say there’s a lot of pressure on us but when you cross that white line it’s a game of football and you’ve got a job to do.”
