Herne Bay man accused of attempted rape at Memorial Park in Dering Road

Detectives investigating a sex attack Herne Bay have a charged a man.

Alan Cornelius, 49, of Dolphin Street, Herne Bay, is accused of attempted rape and wounding after the incident at the Memorial Park in Dering Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

He is due to appear before magistrates in Dover today.

Earlier in the week police said a woman had been pushed to the ground and assaulted by a stranger when she was on her way to meet a friend.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother hospital in Margate after suffering cuts to her neck and leg.
