Hythe Town boss Tim Dixon reveals Sam Bewick will be leaving the club to sign for Whitstable Town

Sam Bewick is leaving Hythe Town to sign for their Kent rivals Whitstable Town.

The 22-year-old rejoined the Cannons for a second spell in February and played 15 games under manager Tim Dixon.

But the former Tonbridge, Maidstone, Herne Bay and Faversham man has agreed to team up with new Oystermen boss Will Graham at The Belmont in 2015/16.

Dixon said: "We put a lot of faith in Sam but he’s been told by Whitstable he’s going to be playing where he wants to play.

"He wanted to play in central midfield for us but I couldn’t promise him that week in, week out.

"He’s moved on for footballing reasons. It’s a bit of a shame because he’s young enough to be part of what we’re trying to do here but I want players who want to be at this club.

"I’m one of those guys – and maybe it goes against me – but if a player wants to go, you go. Good luck to him.

"I won’t keep chasing someone. If someone thinks he can do better elsewhere I won’t hold them back. It’s like Ashley Miller when he went to Folkestone."
