Jamie Butler beats Sam Conebar at Finals held at Hythe Cricket & Squash Club

A feast of entertainment was provided at Hythe Cricket & Squash Club’s recent squash Finals.

There were more entrants than in recent years and several new players got involved.

The Final came down to a match between No.2 seed Jamie Butler and No.3 seed Sam Conebar in the open tournament after some close matches.

The first game saw Conebar go ahead but Butler bounced back well to win 3-1.

In the ladies' tournament, Mel Booth faced teenager Grace Norman - in her first senior club tournament - as Booth’s experience shone through in her 3-0 success.

But that certainly wasn’t the story in the plate Final where wily old campaigner Tom McCorkindale lost 3-0 to Dan Large.

Gary Hollamby won 3-0 against Bill Lightfoot in the veterans’ over-45s Final and former Open champion Ray Semadeni saw off McCorkindale by the same score in the Supervets over-55s Final.

Darrel Moyle bamboozled Hollamby in the handicap Final, triumphing 3-1.

A presentation then followed with squash section chairman Glenn Mousley, handing out the prizes.
