Hythe Town looking to make it six games unbeaten when they travel to Whyteleafe in Ryman League Division 1 South

Resurgent Hythe Town will be on their best run of the season if they can avoid defeat on Whyteleafe’s 3G pitch this weekend.

Victory at home to South Park on Saturday extended the Cannons’ unbeaten streak to five games, matching the run they put together back in October.

And having taken 11 of a possible 15 points since the turn of the year, Hythe have put some space between themselves and the Ryman League Division 1 South relegation zone.

Dixon said: "We haven’t been doing badly and we’re getting everyone back now.

"The lads are working hard. We’ve got a good set of lads, they know the danger we’re in and they don’t want to be in it.

"When you build up momentum, it’s a massive plus for the team and the whole squad and I think we are doing that.

"Hythe went on a tremendous run after Christmas last season, they were down at the bottom and ended up eighth and that’s the sort of thing we can do this year.

"So far, it’s proved that way but we can’t take our finger off the button. We’re nowhere near where we want to be in the league and there’s a lot of hard work ahead.

"The work ethic has got to be there every week."

Dixon hasn’t set his team a positional target – he just wants them to keep winning.

He said: "When you’re down at the bottom, the only way is up. Our target is to catch the team in front of us and we’re gradually gnawing away.

"The plan is coming to fruition and wherever we end up, we end up."
