Brigade's safety warning to businesses

BUSINESSES have been warned to keep their recycling bins well away from buildings after a fire at Quarry Wood Industrial Estate in Aylesford.

Larkfield firefighters were called to a car fire on the industrial estate off Wood Close on Monday night (June 3).

The fire spread to two large waste paper recycling bins behind Halfords, putting nearby buildings at risk.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the car blaze and the bin fires before the flames spread to nearby buildings.

A spokesman for Larkfield fire station said: "This is a timely reminder for businesses to keep their recycling skips well away from their buildings.

"The skips on Monday night were just far enough away to stop the fire from spreading further. The skips must be placed well away from buildings."

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
