New shop on Strand Street in Sandwich Sold and Soon

A new shop owner in Sandwich is urging residents to dust off their old items and sell them at Sold and Soon.

Dave Hughes, 44, of Richborough Road, Sandwich, has recently opened a new shop in Strand Street. Customers can bring in their unwanted goods and Mr Hughes will sell them on commission.

“We will sell virtually anything, within reason. We just had a six foot headboard, sofas, lights, crystals, anything you can think of.

“A lot of people have stuff they aren’t going to use or they’re down-sizing their homes and need to get rid of some things. Now they can sell them instead of sitting there collecting dust.”

Mr Hughes was in the building industry before he decided he wanted to run his own business. He saw a few shops that had taken this idea, particularly in France, and thought it would be perfect for Sandwich.

Mr Hughes, who lives with his wife Emma, 30, and his three children, Niall, 14, Bailey, 12, and Alannah, 11, said: “It’s good news for Sandwich, there’s lots of new shops opening.”

In the past month, two other shops have opened up in Strand Street and the area appears to be thriving.

He added: “My shop is for local people who don’t want to spend time getting items on ebay, then you’ve got to post it and sometimes you won’t get what you want. This aims to make selling easier and make everybody’s life easier.”
