Gin maker Matthew Russell of Copper Rivet Distillery to speak at Kent B2B Medway

The co-founder of a family-run gin factory will be the headline speaker of a business exhibition.

Matthew Russell, who runs Copper Rivet Distillery in Chatham Maritime, will tell the story of his burgeoning company at the Kent B2B Medway.

He launched the firm last year with his father Bob in a Grade II listed former Victorian pumphouse at the old Chatham Dockyard, creating spirits using grains harvested on the Isle of Sheppey.

He said: “This is a B2B event and that’s what we’re here to talk about – how to work together to support each other’s success stories.

“The talk won’t focus on the ins and outs of the spirits industry, but on business strategy and how as a business you have to use your assets – your location, resources and and skills – to become a success.

“Chatham Maritime and the dockyard has an incredible heritage of craftsmanship, industry and innovation and that’s central to our brand.”

Mr Russell joins Folkestone-based Sleeping Giant chief executive Luke Quilter as a speaker at the business show run by Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce.

It takes place at Chatham Historic Dockyard on Tuesday, November 7.
