Former Gravesend Grammar School for Girls student Bobbie Lane on course to create Britain's longest CV with her 100 Job Challenge

A busy jobseeker is well on course to create Britain’s longest CV after working as a photographer, mechanic, florist and usher all in a matter of weeks.

Former Gravesend Grammar School for Girls student Bobbie Lane, 27, from Ash, has made a superb start since launching her 100 Job Challenge in February – ticking off 19 roles already.

Bobbie set herself the task to raise money for The Meditation Trust, a charity that supported her through the illness that kept her off work for good.

In October 2013, she was signed off for a few days after suffering severe headaches that prevented her from returning to full-time employment.

She was eventually diagnosed with migraine variant balance disorder, an illness that leaves people disorientated and exhausted.

Her condition has drastically improved since she began practising transcendental meditation and kore therapy, an alternative to physiotherapy.

Since the challenge began, Bobbie has worked as a photographer at Charlton Athletic Football Club, a theatre usher at The Woodville in Gravesend, a mechanic, a dog- groomer and a hairdresser.

But she says her most enjoyable role so far was as a travel blogger at Google’s £1 billion offices in King’s Cross, London.

So far, she has raised almost £500 for The Meditation Trust, the charity that supported her through illness, while five
people have booked kore therapy sessions after suffering similar symptoms.

Bobbie said: “I’m really loving the challenge and have been surprised by just how different each job has been from my expectations.

“People’s kindness has been amazing – the hairdressers that I worked at in Gravesend donated £100.

“The people that I meet are definitely what have made the challenge for me, and not just the ones at the jobs.

“It’s been amazing the number of people that have contacted me, to tell me how the challenge has helped them.

“I have really enjoyed meeting them and hearing their stories.”

In February, Bobbie completed a day as a reporter in the Messenger’s office in High Street, Gravesend, writing stories for the Gravesend and Dartford titles.

Jobs lined up over the coming weeks and months include TV presenter, fire performer and a day training alongside army troops.
