Legal eagles back hospice campaign

CANTERBURY solicitor Furley Page has teamed up with Demelza House children's hospice for its Leaving a Legacy of Love campaign.

Demelza House recently held an Open Day where the presentation of a cheque for £1,500 officially launched the campaign.

Dr Anthony Medhurst, Deputy Head of Fund-raising for Demelza House said: "Furley Page has been an active supporter of the work we do for children in Kent and we are delighted they are able to do so again.

"Without Government support, Demelza House relies entirely on voluntary contributions to meet its running costs and people who leave gifts in their wills make a vital contribution towards providing care for children with life-limiting conditions.

"With Furley Page's encouragement and support, we hope to raise public awareness about the difference that everyone can make when including a charity in a will as well as the financial benefits to the donor."

Harvey Barrett, a partner at Furley Page said: "We are delighted to be associated with the work of Demelza House. The running costs of £1.6 million are a constant struggle to find.

"By encouraging people to leave money to Demelza House when drafting their wills, we are helping the hospice plan a more secure future. They can then continue to help very sick children and their families here in the South East."

Demelza House, at Bobbing, near Sittingbourne, is the only hospice dedicated to children in the south east.
