Peter Gander, from Herne Bay, who recreated Mr Monopoly, has plotted Kent's micropubs and microbreweries

A famous artist who reinvented Mr Monopoly has created a map of the elusive microbreweries and micropubs of Kent.

Peter Gander, who created the well known character who has appeared on Monopoly boxes for the last 30 years, has designed the map as a follow up to the one he made to mark the start of Kent Green Hop Beer Fortnight in September.

On that occasion the former London ad-man plotted the breweries involved in the annual event.

This time around the map features Goachers in Tovil, Musket Brewery in Linton, West Malling’s Kent Brewery, Whitstable Brewery in Grafty Green , Rockin’ Robin in Maidstone, Tonbridge Brewery, Tunbridge Wells’ Pig and Porter, and West Peckham’s Swan on the Green, which is home to its own microbrewery.

Newly formed Maidstone Brewery, which features in the Good Beer Guide for the first time this year and as yet only produces some experimental ales, is not included.

The 51-year-old from Herne Bay is no stranger to the industry having designed logos for CAMRA beer festivals and a Kent beer guide cover in the 1980s and 1990s.

He said: “I have always wanted to do a fully comprehensive map that covers both micropubs and microbreweries, and as Kent has more of these establishments than anywhere else in the country it works really well.”

In total the A2 print, which can be purchased for £25 from www.etsy.com, includes more than 60 pubs and breweries from across Kent and Mr Gander says he will look to keep it as up to date as possible as more establishments spring up.
