Appeal after double death crash on M20

KENT Police are appealing for information following a crash on the M20 in which two people suffered fatal injuries.

The collision happened shortly before 10.30pm on Monday night on the London-bound carriageway after junction 11 at Hythe.

Six vehicles were involved. Three of them were French-registered white Mercedes Sprinter vans. The others involved are believed to be maintenance vehicles.

The two men killed were both French nationals. They died at the scene. A third French national suffered serious leg injuries and he was taken by ambulance to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital.

Kent Fire and Rescue Services attended and used cutting equipment to free the trapped men.

Both carriageways of the mororway were closed between junctions 10 and 11 and re-opened at 8.25am. Ferry traffic from the Port of Dover was diverted onto the A2.

The cause of the collision is not yet known and investigations are ongoing.
