A MAN accused of murder after a body was found floating in the River Medway has made his first appearance at Maidstone Crown Court.

Christopher Walker, 23, formerly of Weatherly Close, Rochester, is alleged to have killed Mark Potts, also 23, from Essex, between March 14 and April 19. He died from a gunshot wound.

Oliver Saxby, prosecuting, said Mr Walker, now of Tulse Hill, south west London, had indicated a not guilty plea.

Mr Justice Harrison remanded Mr Walker in custody until July 27, when he is expected to enter a plea.

The body was found floating in the river by Thunderbolt Pier in The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, on April 19.

Posters bearing Mr Potts' face have been put up in the Blue Boar Lane area of Rochester in the hope that people may come forward with information.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact police on 01622 654850 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
