After a gap of more than 15 years, people in Chartham celebrated the return of their village fete.

More than 1,000 people attended the resurrected event on the Memorial Field.

Attractions included a bouncy castle, coconut shy, face-painting, sideshows and a novelty duck race,

One of the organisers Peter Harrington said: “It was a fantastic day which went swimmingly and attracted an enormous number of people.

“It’s just wonderful for the village and for the community that the fete is back. And we hope to make it even better next year.”
