Waitrose recalls four varieties of chocolate

Those with a sweet tooth in Kent are being told to check their cupboards after Waitrose recalled bars of chocolate.

The superstore, which has 21 stores in the county, is asking shoppers to return four varieties of its 'Waitrose 1' chocolate bars.

It is thought that some may contain pieces of plastic which could present a health risk.

The four brands which are affected are Waitrose 1 White Chocolate with Matcha Tea and Pistachio, Waitrose 1 White Chocolate with Pistachio, Almond and Hazelnut, Waitrose 1 White Chocolate with Feuilletine and Sea Salt and the regular Waitrose 1 White Chocolate.

The affected batch has an expiry date of July 2018.

A spokesman for the Chartered Trading Standards Institute said: "Waitrose is recalling the above products.

"Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

"If you have bought any of the above products do not eat it.

"Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
