Christmas bundles of joy for proud parents

Christmas presents don't come better than these.

And for proud parents the festive season has never been more joyful.

While most of us were unwrapping gifts and filling up on food, some lucky mums and dads were enjoying their very own little Christmas puddings.

Three couples at Darent Valley Hospital got the perfect present from Santa with the birth of their beautiful bundles of joy on December 25.

Gureet and Amarjit Gill, from Gravesend, had an early start when they welcomed their as yet unnamed baby boy into the world at about 4am, weighing 7lb 4oz.

And it looks set to be a very nappy New Year for Katie Mannley, also from Gravesend, gave birth to a daughter, 7lb 1oz Laila, at 3.52pm.

Claire and William Hargrove, from Sole Street, cuddled up to their new arrival, 8lb 2oz baby boy Matthew, a few minutes later, at 4.12pm.

News of the priceless packages came after the Darenth Wood Road hospital predicted a baby boom for its maternity wards in 2010. Bosses are expecting a record 3,610 babies to be born in their wards next year - 1,500 more than in 2001.
