Cyclist dies in Old Wives Lees

A cyclist died from a head injury after falling from his bike.

The man in his 60s was riding down Long Hill in Old Wives Lees, near Canterbury, at around 9.05am on Thursday morning when the accident happened.

He was found by a couple in a black Toyota Aventis who were driving up the hill.

They called an ambulance and the man, who lives in the local area, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford where he later died from his injuries at 6pm.

Police are now appealing for information about the incident.

PC Mick Sayer of the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “At this stage it appears that for some unknown reason the man has lost control and fallen from his bike.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the Old Wives Lees area yesterday morning and saw the man out cycling to contact us so we can piece together exactly what happened.”
