Driver trapped as car slides into ditch at Staplehurst

A CAR slid down an embankment trapping its driver inside after it was in collision with another car on a country road.

The cars collided on Cranbrook Road in Staplehurst, on the slip road off towards Marden, at around 8.40am on Friday.

One car remained on the carriageway but the other came off the road and went down a small embankment into a ditch at the side.

The female driver was trapped inside her car and two Kent Fire and Rescue crews - one from Tonbridge and one from Cranbrook - helped free her.

Both drivers complained of minor injuries and were taken to Maidstone Hospital by ambulance.

A section of the road, which is the main route through Staplehurst, was temporarily blocked while the vehicles were recovered but traffic was flowing as normal by 9.50am.

There were no other people involved.
