Family pay tribute to cyclist killed in accident

The family of a Medway cyclist who died last week died after he lost control of his pushbike and crashed into a road sign have spoken of their loss.

Mark Titus, 35, travelling towards Maidstone in Lidsing Road, near Boxley at 3.15pm last Wednesday when he veered off the road.

He crashed into a sign surrounded by dense foliage, suffering fatal injuries. Police closed the road between Pilgrims Way and the Medway-Maidstone boundary. Their inquiries are ongoing.

In a statement released through Kent Police relatives of Mr Titus pay tribute to a devoted father.

“Mark was one of the last postal cadets to be recruited. He worked with the Post Office for 19 years.

"During that time he worked in several offices including the Houses of Parliament.

"He moved to Chatham area and was very popular in the local community. Many people have commented on his bright and cheerful personality.

"He was a devoted father to his 8-year-old daughter Katie."

Mark’s funeral will take place on Thursday 17th July at 3pm at Medway Crematorium, Blue Bell Hill.
