DETECTIVES say a brutal rapist who threatened a young woman with a knife could carry out another attack.

Police say it is vital to catch the man who attacked the terrified 24-year-old on her way home from a night out in Bromley.

They have released a CCTV image in the hope someone will help them trap the man who grabbed the girl in Westmoreland Road, Bromley.

The rapist threatened the woman with the blade before forcing her into nearby Cameron Road and raping her at about 2.30am on Sunday, November 27.

DS Peter Rance, investigating the case with Bromley Sapphire Unit, said: “Whilst he has not been caught of course there is a danger he could attack again.”

The rapist, said to be in his early 30s, fled down the road towards Letchworth Drive after the rape, leaving his traumatised victim behind.

She managed to obtain help to call police, who have described her ordeal as being one which was “particularly nasty”.

They need the public’s help to find the rapist, who was wearing a denim jacket, red top, dark-coloured bottoms, white trainers and a beanie hat. He is described as being black and of average build.

DS Rance said: “If you saw anyone wearing these clothes that night, or if you were in the Bromley High Street area and may have been a potential witness, we would like to speak to you.”

He stressed that stranger rapes such as this one are incredibly rare.
