Big gig: Fundamental Skillz will play at this year's Glastonbury Festival

A Kent band has been selected to play at the Glastonbury Festival this summer.

Members of rock and hip hop act Fundamental Skillz, from Ashford, were told that they will perform to an audience of up to 3,500 people in the east dance tent after they were picked from about 4,000 hopefuls.

Drummer Sam Stewart said: "We were hand-picked and went on a shortlist of 20. After we got selected, we were asked to go to Glastonbury to perform a showcase gig for members of the record industry and press. The Eavis family were also in the room.

"It's going to be the biggest gig we've ever played."

The band's Glastonbury gig will be on Friday, June 27, at 1pm.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the news that Maidstone act Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs will play the Avalon stage at this year's festival.
