Jack Green enjoyed a breakout weekend to give his Olympic
preparations a huge boost less than a fortnight before the Games
begin.

The 20-year-old 400m hurdles specialist from Maidstone
(pictured) smashed his personal best at the London Diamond League
meeting at Crystal Palace on Friday night and also produced a pb
performance in the flat 400m the following day to enhance his
chances of inclusion in the starting 4x400m relay team for
London.

After Bershawn Jackson was disqualified in lane eight for a
false start in the 400m hurdles, Green stormed home to finish
fourth in an elite field and his time of 48.60sec was more than a
third of a second inside his previous best and a new European
under-23 record.

Puerto Rican Javier Culson, based at a training camp in
Canterbury and the fastest man in the world this year, won in 47.78
with Green's training partner and Team GB team-mate Dai Greene
(48.10) in second and American Angelo Taylor (48.43) in third.

Green's run was the eighth fastest in the world this year and
two of those faster finished behind him in Friday's race.

Green said on twitter: "Finally a pb, and I hit a hurdle or
two..."

The following day Green won the National 400m against a British
field of specialist 400m runners in a blistering time of 45.99 and
tweeted: "A win in the 400m - I can call myself a 400m runner now.
Olympics next."

Lisa Dobriskey was a disappointing seventh in the 1,500m on
Friday night, though she was just 0.77 seconds out of third place
after a blanket finish.

The 28-year-old Ashford AC star's time of 4.08.83 was, however,
almost six seconds slower than her fine performance in the Paris
Diamond League meeting the previous week, but she did keep pace
with fellow Team GB hopeful Laura Weightmann who had beaten her by
a large margin at last month's Aviva 2012 trials in Birmingham.
