Diversions had also been been set up.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, police said: “This is causing major disruption in Sittingbourne due to diversions.

“Please drive carefully in this weather and adjust your speed accordingly. Thankfully, only minor injuries! #Fatal4#SpeedKills.”

Officers shared a photo of one car sideways on one side of the carriageway crashed into the barrier at the edge of the road.

The crash resulted in queueing traffic while one lane was closed following the crash on the A249 coastbound at A2 Keycol Hill (Key Street Roundabout).

There was a detour in operation via Sheppey Way following an oil spillage which saw another collision on the other side of the carriageway, but it is now understood all lanes have been reopened.
