Nigel Mansell kicks off Beaujolais run at Brands Hatch

A roar of engines sounded out as petrol heads revved up for the annual Beaujolais run.

Brands Hatch in West Kingsdown formed the backdrop as former F1 champion Nigel Mansell kicked off the event - which sees Beaujolais Nouveau wine brought over from France.

The event started in the 1970s, offering wine lovers a first chance to taste the young wine every November.

This year, the run had a more poignant message for those at the Kent race circuit, as it is hoping to raise cash for the Henry Surtees Foundation.

The son of racing driver John Surtees died in an accident at the track last year.

The teams should reach their destination later this week, deep in Beaujolais country.
