William Fox-Pitt, who has won a bronze medal at the Olympics with the British eventing team

One of the country’s leading horsemen who grew up near Canterbury has won a bronze medal as a member of the GB eventing team at the Beijing Olympics.

It is the second Olympic medal for William Fox-Pitt who also won a silver with the team at Athens in 2004.

Mr Fox-Pitt learned to ride at Knowlton Court, near Wingham, where his parents still live and he visits several times a year. They are believed to be in Beijing to support the team.

He now lives in Dorset with his young family.
