General election: Polling stations open with voting under way across Kent

Voting has started in the general election with 17 seats across Kent and Medway up for grabs.

Polls opened at 7am and will close at 10pm with the results declared overnight.

In Kent’s 17 constituencies, close to 100 candidates have been nominated.

Nationally, the Conservatives have 330 seats, Labour 229, the Liberal Democrats nine and the SNP 54 seats.

We will be covering the results across all Kent’s 17 seats and will have reporters at every count.

Results are expected to start coming through from about 1am.
