E-fit of man wanted for distraction burglary in Beaver Lane, Ashford

Police have issued an image of a man they are seeking following a distraction burglary on a woman in her 80s.

The victim, in Beaver Lane, Ashford, was called on by a man who claimed to have lost his dog and asked if he could look for it in her garden.

While in the garden he appeared to hit his head on a pipe and asked for a damp tissue.

When he was gone the woman noticed her handbag and purse had been taken.

The incident happened at about 9.30am on Saturday, May 29.

South Kent Police have now issued an e-fit of a man they are seeking.

He is described as white, aged 20 to 30, of stocky build, 6ft tall with shoulder length curly hair that could either be dark or light.

Police are treating this as an isolated incident but say that Beaver Lane residents with concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour should contact PC Elaine Carroll or PCSO Ian Williamson on 01233 896332.
