Adebayo Akinfenwa has warned his former team that Gillingham are out for revenge.

The striker, pictured, will be hoping to return from a groin injury on Saturday to inflict some pain on a Northampton side which beat Gills 2-1 in October.

Akinfenwa was a big hit in front of goal for the Cobblers during his year-and-a-half spell at the club, but was kept quiet when the sides last met.

"We owe them a performance and a result," said the 28-year-old.

"It was a different Gillingham team that faced them last time as the away performances were weighing on our shoulders.

"We started the game well and it was our best 20 minutes of the season, but the game flipped and they deservedly won.

"I was being marked by Dean Beckwith and Adbul Osman and they did it well.

"I do still want Northampton to achieve things and have much love for them, but on Saturday we’ll be going to get three points."
