Teenager 'serious' after two-vehicle crash

AN 18-year-old car driver is in hospital with serious head injuries after his Vauxhall Astra was in collision with a van.

Kent police are appealing for witnesses to the crash which happened in Grovehurst Avenue, Kemsley, near Sittingbourne, last Friday at about 1.45pm.

Both male drivers were taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital. The driver of the van, a 32-year-old man from Ashford, is not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

A Police spokesman said today: "The driver of the Vauxhall, an 18-year-old man from Kemsley, is currently being treated for serious head injuries and is described as being in a serious condition."
