Yellow warning for thunderstorms across parts of Kent

Thunderstorms are set to hit parts of Kent today - ahead of glorious sunshine at the weekend.

A yellow weather warning for the west of the county is in force from 11am until 8pm today.

Some flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely, perhaps leading to damage to buildings.

There is a good chance driving conditions will at times be affected by spray and standing water, leading to some minor journey delays

There could also be some short term loss of power and other services due to lightning strikes.

But don't pack away the sunscreen just yet - temperatures are set to sizzle over the weekend.

Thermometers could nudge the 30C mark on either day, with only a small risk of showers.
