Two men have appeared in court charged with grievous bodily harm with intent following an attack on which left a father-of-six fighting for his life.

Paul Hopkins, 32, was attacked outside his house in Beecholme Drive, Kennington, Ashford, after a row with a neighbour and is now in a coma in a London hospital.

Christopher Goldfinch, 22, a student who lives in Falcon Way and Scott Stevens, 22, a groundworker who lives in Augustus Walk, appeared at Ashford Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Both were remanded in custody and are due to appear for a preliminary hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on August 17.

Mr Hopkins has undergone surgery to remove part of his skull due to internal bleeding. Doctors have given him a 40 per cent chance of survival.
