Bank Holiday washout: Kent weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain

Hopes of a sun-soaked Bank Holiday weekend have been dashed after a weather warning was issued for thunderstorms and heavy rain across Kent.

The Met Office said the yellow warning covered the whole of the county from 6am tomorrow and all day on Sunday.

There is a small chance homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

It described a small chance of fast-flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.

The Met Office also warned of potential train and bus cancellations where flooding and lightning strikes occur.

Meanwhile, spray and sudden flooding could cause difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
