White squirrels rare? You must be nuts

A white-haired resident has caused a stir amongst householders in a Kent village this week. The albino squirrel, known as Whitey, has set up home in Wye, near Ashford, and was spotted and photographed by Peter Loe.

White squirrels are purported to be a one-in-100,000 phenomenon but there have been numerous sightings across Kent in recent years, including a another sighting this week at Penenden Heath, Maidstone.

We've looked back in our files and found a few pictures submitted by readers of this seemingly not-so-rare quirk of nature.

If you have any pictures or have seen an albino squirrel let us know at editor.kentonline@thekmgroup.co.uk
