This is the face of the man wanted by police in connection with a frightening robbery in which a 61-year-old woman was kicked and stamped on.

A police spokesman said the victim had just got off a bus and was walking through an alleyway between Helyellyn Avenue and Manston Road at Ramsgate when it happened.

A man grabbed the straps of her shoulder bag and kicked and stamped on her after she fell to the ground. Police say it was an "aggressive" robbery and the man shouted and swore at the woman, who suffered cuts and bruises.

The robber walked off with the bag towards Manston Road after the straps broke. The victim described the man as in his 20s, around 5ft 11ins, of slim build with short black hair. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and white trainers.

Det Con David Whitehead said: "This was an aggressive individual who showed a complete disregard for this woman. We know there are people out there who know him and know what he has done and we want to hear from them."

Anyone with information about the robbery - which happened in broad daylight at around 2pm on Saturday, July 18 - is urged to contact police on 01843 231055 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
