All the latest from Crayford Greyhound Track

This Friday’s fixture will feature a parade of veteran greyhounds.

The parades will be between races four and five and seven and eight and many of the track’s ex-racing stars will be returning.

The Racing Office will announce each dog and give some background information on their racing careers here.

Guest of honour will be Crayford Stadium’s all-time race record holder, Newlawn Sweep, who is still racing despite turning eight this September.

Track favourite Sweep recently notched up his 500th career win which, to our knowledge, is extremely rare. We have yet to hear of any dog in the past at any track who has achieved this.

Supporters of Magical Roddy will be looking for early payback after the dog was beaten at odds of even money favourite last Friday.

Tinas Junior won for a fourth successive race win – the last three in grade A1.

I indicated two weeks ago this greyhound would be a force to be reckoned with.

However, I believe local bookmakers were correct in making Roddy favourite last week when the pair met and he was unlucky in incurring early traffic.

Running out of trap three, he managed to break away level with the two dogs either side of him. But they both moved to the centre of the track and blocked Roddy’s path, leaving him no room at the first bend.

I am expecting him to run well on his reappearance, whatever the opposition.

Droopys Coco, who featured here last week, ran a creditable second in her marathon 714m race on Saturday beaten by just one length at odds of 7-1.

Coco will not be two until September, so this performance was excellent. The longer distances seem to be to her liking and I can see her winning plenty of stayers’ races in the future.

Boozed Coline has been showing form after a lean spell and looks stronger than ever after winning a top grade S1 race here over 540m mid month.

She is difficult to get past if leading early on so keep an eye open for her, especially from trap three.

Others to follow are Lucky Top and Honour Mac.
