Gillingham are closing in on a long-term sponsorship agreement with their current main backers MEMS.

The current deal with MEMS is in its third and final year but chairman Paul Scally had revealed that negotiations are at an advanced stage for extending that partnership.

Mr Scally said: “I am in advanced discussions with our current sponsors MEMS regarding extending their current sponsorship into a new four-year term.

“MEMS have been great sponsors over the past few years, are a local Medway company that offers huge support to the club and we should all be grateful for their constant efforts and backing for the club.”

The Gills had been previously sponsored by Newcastle-based vending company Automatic Retailing, before Colin Jarvis’ power generation company, which are based on Beechings Way in Gillingham, agreed to back the club in the summer of 2011.
